Joining your Pixel Mosaic baseplates (Applies to all multiple baseplate kits)
1. Ensure all baseplates are in correct order and orientation
On completion of all the baseplates in your Pixel Mosaic kit, the baseplates should be placed pixel side up on a flat surface in numerical order with the arrow on the back of each plate facing in the correct direction (see kit instructions), ensure the positioning of all the baseplates is correct before carefully placing the baseplates pixel side down keeping the baseplates in order.
2. Joining the first two baseplates
Baseplates 1 and 2 should be joined together by placing baseplate 1 pixel side down on a flat surface, take baseplate 2 pixel side down align the joining edge with baseplate 1 keeping the opposite edge of baseplate 2 slightly raised off the flat surface push both tightly together, ensure the top and bottom edges of the two baseplates are aligned, then secure using strong clear tape along the length of the join. Once joined turn the baseplates pixel side up and push down on to a flat surface, the baseplate join should be almost seamless, if this is not the case remove the clear tape and repeat the process again until you are satisfied with the end result.
3. Joining remaining baseplates
If your kit contains more than two baseplates then the above process should be continued until all baseplates are fixed together. You may find it easier to join your baseplates in strips and then join the strips together.
4. Example of 12 baseplate kit (4 x 3 baseplates)
Baseplates 1 and 2 should be joined, then join baseplates 1 & 2 to baseplate 3, then join baseplates 1,2 & 3 to baseplate 4. Place this strip to the side.
Baseplates 5 and 6 should be joined, then join baseplates 5 & 6 to baseplate 7, then join baseplates 5,6 & 7 to baseplate 8. Place this strip to the side.
Baseplates 9 and 10 should be joined, then join baseplates 9 & 10 to baseplate 11, then join baseplates 9, 10 & 11 to baseplate 12. Place this strip to the side.
Take the first and second strip, lay the first strip on a flat surface and whilst slightly tilting the second strip align and join the strips together. Then join the first and second strip to the third strip.
For the large kits you may find it easier to have assistance from a second person.
Mounting your Pixel Mosaic picture
Once your baseplates are joined then your Pixel Mosaic picture is ready to be mounted either on to pre-cut 5mm self adhesive mountboard available on our online shop or alternatively stiff cardboard/hardboard no less than 3mm thick using strong double sided tape or super glue (please do not use PVA glue).
Please note mounting is not necessary for 1 baseplate kits, however we do stock 1 baseplate self adhesive mountboard for customers who prefer to do so.
